2018 marks the 50th anniversary of Tau Beta Pi California Kappa Chapter since the chapter’s formation in 1968 at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), or formerly known as the San Fernando Valley State College. A banquet was held on April 21, 2018 to commemorate this significant milestone for current members, officers, and alumni. There were several notable alumni speakers and guests, including the chapter’s Chief Advisor Dr. Kourosh Sedghisigarchi, chapter advisor Dr. Ali Amini, Executive Councilor George Youssef, District 16 Director Neal Bussett and Sam Rokni, CSUN Chair of ECE Department, Dr George Law, and an alumnus including Eric Browning, Kappa chapter’s former president in ‘04, attended the event which some shared their insights connecting the values of Tau Beta Pi to the industry. The chapter’s President, Yin Fung Khong, presented chapter’s 50th Anniversary polos and composite yearbook photos featuring all advisors, officers and members to the chapter advisors and guest, whereas newly initiated members were presented with their membership certificates, cards, pins, photos and polos. George presented the chapter the 50th Anniversary plaque on behalf of national association, and the chapter’s chief advisor also presented Yin a plaque in recognition for his extraordinary dedication and leadership towards to chapter’s growth. To officially celebrate the half a century journey milestone, a cake-cutting ceremony was completed together by Neal and George, accompanied by chapter’s chief advisor Dr. Kourosh, chapter’s president Yin and secretary Michael. A group photo was taken with all attendees to conclude the festivity.
